ZARA Tanzania Adventures applauded for tax compliance and
contributions to tourism
The Tanzania Revenue Authorityu (TRA) Ccommissioner
General, Mr Yusuph Mwenda, has lauded ZARA Tanzania Adventures for its
exemplary commitment to tax compliance and its vital role in the tourism sector.
The commendation came during a visit to the company’s headquarters in Moshi, Kilimanjaro,
on 15December 2024, Where Mr Mwenda highlighted ZARA’s positive impact on the
national economy .
During his visit, Mr Mwenda praised the
leadership of Ms Zainab Ansell, the founder and CEO of ZARA Tanzania Adventures,
for setting a benchmarkin tax compliance within the industry.
“ZARA Tanzania Adventures has consistently demonstrated
that b usinesss can prosper while fulfilling their tax obligations”, he stated.
“Last year, Ms Ansell was honoured as the best Female Taxpayer, and we
anticipate the company achieving similar accolades this year due its steadfast
contributions to the economy”.
Addressing Challenges in the tourism industry
Mr Mwenda also addressed various challenges
facing the tourism industry, assuring stakeholders of TRA’s commitment to resolving
them. One notable initiative includes easing regulations surrounding drone
usage in mount Kilimanjaro National park, which is expected to improve tourisim
services and attract more visitors.
“These initiatives are part of our
comprehensive efforts to create a business-friendly environment and stimulate
tourisim growth,” Mr Mwenda said.”By overcoming such challenges, we aim to
empower companies like ZARA Tanzania Adventures to contribiute more sustainably to
goverments revenues through tourisim.”
For over 40 years, ZARA Tanzania Adventures has
been a cornerstone of Tanzania’s tourism industry. Beyond creating employment
opportunities and contributing substantial tax revenues, the company has
consistenly showcased the nation’s natural wonders to the world, solidifying
its status as a pivotal player in the country’s economic development.
